My thoughts on the Blink doorbell: barely satisfactory. - UPDATED

I spent about two days trying to get this to work with my systems and one thing I learned is at the very spot where my existing doorbell button is located so I can use the transformer for power, the wifi signal is weak. This is exacerbated by the fact the Ring doorbell has a VERY weak reception so basically the signal was nil. This, of course, is not good for a device that depends on wifi. I created a new network wifi specifically for the Ring which got me into the 'yellow' as far as signal strength and with a data plan, it functions as it should. I was not able to use the module and had to delete the system and start over several times. The lag between the two devices was horrible and there was no way I could take advantage of the on-site storage. Much to my dismay I have to use a data plan and tie up bandwidth. I'm pretty sure this is by design so I question the accuracy of 'no data plan needed'. For three bucks a month or 30 bucks a year I figured I would just accept the plan and move on but I will not be using any more Blink products. I find this device mediocre at best with a poor night vision and motion sensitivity that's either too strong or too weak with little adjustment in-between. I would not recommend it. The only reason why I'm keeping the device is so my wife can have access to the door during the day while she works upstairs.1. It's packaged well and looks nice.2. Setup is pretty straightforward just read the instructions and take your time.3. As is typical with non-antenna devices, range is limited shrinking your options for module placement.4. The wired doorbell option works well should you want to use it instead of just the electronic options.5. I have two porch lights on either side of my door with 40W yellow bug bulbs. The camera resolution is not that good as the lights are over exposing the camera. During the day it's just okay.6. Live view is very laggy taking way to long to connect and sometimes it wont connect at all. I had to remove the module and just use the doorbell in stand alone mode to fix this problem.7. Motion detection works well, almost instantly, but camera connection may take a few seconds. Removing the module solved this problem.8. The microphone is super sensitive. External audio is loud and clear and unfortunately not adjustable. I can hear dogs barking two blocks away.9. No plan required. The module stores clips and has the option for an external USB device for additional storage (see above).10. The mounting plate could have a better design with a slot in the middle. I was forced to drill a new screw hole and chamfer the edges to get my doorbell to fit my flagstone exterior.I'll come back with more thoughts as they pop up but to surmise, this is a basic device that will provide a basic service. You will not get constant monitoring but only clips. If the device is armed, motion detection works. If it is not armed it only works as a camera when someone presses the doorbell. If you can wire it to your existing doorbell the transformer will power the doorbell keeping your batteries from being exhausted.

Game-changer for content creation - exceeded all expectations!

As someone who creates content for YouTube and TikTok, I've struggled with poor audio quality using my phone's built-in microphone. This PQRQP wireless microphone set has completely transformed my content quality, and I honestly can't believe how much of a difference it makes!Setup is ridiculously easy:True plug-and-play experience! I just connected the Lightning receiver to my iPhone and both mics paired instantly - no apps, no complicated setup, no hassle. Within 30 seconds I was recording with professional-quality audio.Sound quality is incredible:The difference compared to my phone's mic is night and day. Crystal clear voice pickup with excellent noise reduction - even when filming outdoors or in noisy environments, my voice comes through crisp and professional. The omnidirectional pickup means I don't have to worry about positioning perfectly.Battery life is outstanding:The advertised 20+ hour battery life is no joke. I've used these for full day shoots without any battery anxiety. The charging case keeps everything topped up and the LED indicators make it easy to check battery levels at a glance.Perfect for dual recording:Having two mics included is fantastic for interviews or when filming with friends. Both sync seamlessly and the audio quality remains consistent across both units.Build quality and portability:These are incredibly small and lightweight - I literally forget I'm wearing them while filming. The clips are sturdy, and everything fits perfectly in the compact charging case. Easy to throw in my bag for travel or outdoor shoots.Universal compatibility:Love that it comes with both Lightning and USB-C receivers. I can use it with my iPhone, iPad, and Android devices without any issues. This versatility alone makes it worth the investment.Value is unbeatable:For the price, you're getting professional-level audio equipment that rivals mics costing 3x more. The improvement to my content quality has been immediate and noticeable.Bottom line:If you create any kind of video content, this is a must-have purchase. It's transformed my videos from amateur to professional-sounding overnight. Highly recommended!

real good, but...

its good for what it is. the picture is clear enough to identify anyone, but it lags big time, if you can be okay with that (like i am) then this is a great doorbell camera for the money. its got a wide angle, wider than anyone outside of your house will think. the app is nice, video last about a minute or two. be sure to buy some AA batteries, the lithium ones they give you DO NOT LAST A YEAR, mine died after 5 months and i'm not the only ones in that boat, so that claim is kaput other than that this thing is great.

Good but could be great

The Blink cameras are pretty good but unless you are ok with having to change the batteries monthly, Id buy wiring to make it wired or choose something else. I know they say 2 year battery life, but Ive had my doorbell and 3 external cameras and have had to replace the batteries monthly. Of course it all depends on how much the camera gets used or how sensitive you have the motion sensor set for. I had it set on one of the lowest settings and it never picked up any motion. I have cats, racoons and possums walking in front of it nightly and it never would pick them up. It wouldnt even pick me up jumping up and down in front of it. About the lowest setting I could set it at was 7 and that causes the batteries to go dead in about 30 days. Considering they only take Lithium batteries as well and you cant use rechargeables, it adds up fast. I eventually bought a wire kit that plugs into any electrical outlet with the same usb plug in module that youd use to charge your phone. It works much better. Then if you want to be able to records something as you are watching it, you have to subscribe to one one of their plans because that option is not allowed during live view. So, in summary, lots of batteries or hard wire it. Subscription plan unless you are ok with watching live but not being able to record it which kind of sucks if you see some on live view doing something they arent supposed to and want to record it...too bad. Motion settings have to be set relatively high if you want it to capture everything. If you have it set to watch your backdoor which never has anything go near it compared to your front door or your driveway, you'll have to have it set high and that eats batteries up fast. Works decent but I think it could be much better.

Impressed so far! So easy to set up!

First impression is definitely a positive one! We bought the Blink Doorbell with sync module, and a 3 pack of the Outdoor 4 cameras. Previous experience with WiFi cameras had me expecting this to be a pain to set up.The doorbell and sync module were the first things I set up in the Blink app and it was absolutely painless and simple. Hubby got the bracket on the house in less time than it took to connect and update the doorbell. I really appreciated the fact I didn’t have to have a hard wired doorbell already - we have a double wide and no existing door bell. Setting it and the three cameras up took an hour, tops. Today is day 4 and so far they all are working smoothly, integration with our Alexa devices was smooth and easy and works well. Right now I have left the motion sensitivity to default on the doorbell and my highest traffic camera. So far the doorbell has gotten quite a bit of motion activity, so we will see how the batteries go. I’m going to buy some rechargeable lithiums for all the camera so I can have backup charged. We have played with the doorbell function but I haven’t had someone use it while I’m away, or anything like that.I also really like how Blink strings clips together from each camera when an “event” happens. So far the doorbell and my other cameras are wonderful. I’ll update this review after a couple of months!!!
