Enter the C-Wire Adapter for Wi-Fi Thermostats & Redlink 8000 Series—a revolutionary solution that empowers users to harness the full potential of their smart thermostats without the hassle of complex rewiring.
What is a C-Wire and Why Does It Matter?
A C-wire, or common wire, is essential for powering smart thermostats, as it provides a continuous flow of low-voltage power to the device. Many traditional HVAC systems lack this wire, resulting in compatibility issues with newer Wi-Fi-enabled thermostats. The absence of a C-wire can lead to a variety of problems, including the inability to connect to Wi-Fi, frequent battery replacements, or even system malfunctions.
The C-Wire Adapter serves as an innovative bridge, allowing homeowners to connect their Wi-Fi thermostats to their HVAC systems without the need for extensive modifications. By using this adapter, you can eliminate the inconvenience of battery-operated thermostats and enjoy seamless connectivity to your home network.

This converter was easy to install and came with easy to follow instructions. No issues getting the Honeywell Wifi thermostat connected to our hvac system. Our home was built in the 70s and naturally lacked the 5th wire to connect a 24v line to the thermostat. I was skeptical when buying this as it seemed too good to be true to get that power wire this easily. No issues!Something I ran into during install that wasn't really covered in the wiring instructions: My furnace is an HE model, the yellow wire was split off the main circuit board on the furnace and it was ran to a float safety switch, then off to the thermostat from that switch. Make sure you wire in this box after the switch not directly off the circuit board. This float prevents the unit from running if it is full of water and not draining.
I ordered this c wire adapter and got something totally different that won't work. I did some checking and this item has been discontinued by Honeywell. So get the adapter that has ending numbers 2098/U instead of this item that was numbered 1098/U.
Product's instructions were less than good but workable. Even then, the product doesn't supply any power to the Alexa thermostat. I wasted time and money with the electrician only to determine that this thing is defective and there is no way to even test it. Don't buy it.
